ELIS test center for electric aviation is attracting international interest

Skellefteå aims to become a leading hub in the commercialization of electric aircraft in Sweden, and an important player in the international arena for the development of technology linked to the electrification of aircraft.

A delegation from the UK consisting of 15 innovation companies has visited Skellefteå with the goal of finding collaboration partners and synergies with Swedish companies within the field of electric aviation. The companies operate in various areas around technology development in sustainable aviation and see Skellefteå's investment in test centers as a great opportunity for the future.

Building a large urban droneport in a subarctic climate is an innovative project with no direct templates or guidelines. After extensive planning, the site is now paved and the buildings are in place, but some work remains before one of Europe’s largest urban drone airports can be inaugurated.

Skellefteå Droneport is one of the first droneports in Europe being built in an urban environment. The Droneport will be a physical space for development, research, education, and  commercialization of drone-related solutions.
